The food at Chiang Mai Thai is exciting and diverse. Here you can find true variety; from the aromatic and spicy street food of Northern Thailand to the Royal Cuisine of Bangkok; from the sweet, creamy curries of Southern Thailand to original creations from our own Chef Joy.

Northern Thailand dishes include nam prik ong and nam prik num, spicy dips that are served with sticky rice, traditionally eaten with your hands. Som tam, the sour and savory green papaya salad, is a true taste of Thailand. Street food, such as satay and dried beef, are popular appetizers. And Pad Thai, the famous noodle dish available everywhere in Thailand, is just as popular here.

The beautiful dishes originally created for the Royal family are now available for everyone. Sweet green curry is a favorite, and for good reason. And even though the Yellow Curry originated from a hot country, it has found a place in Minnesota as the best winter comfort food. Tom yam, a hot and sour soup, is delicious and some reports indicate it can cure the common cold (or at least make you feel better!).

Thai cooks everywhere continue to experiment and create new dishes. Our chef, Thi Mai (Joy) Evans, is no exception. She has created an extraordinary green sauce that is served with the chicken wings and scallops, although we have seen customers put it on everything! And another specialty is the Khao Kadeukadeek, delicious marinated beef on flavorful tomato rice served with two sauces--hot and sweet. Plus, it is as much fun to say as it is to eat.
